I-Joists / I-Beams
An engineered wood joist, more commonly known as an I-joist or I-beam, is a product designed to eliminate problems that occur with conventional wood joists.
I-Joists / I-Beams are less likely to bow, crown, twist, cup, check or split as would a traditional solid floor joist. This structural integrity, combined with little or no shrinkage help eliminate squeaky floors.
Masonite I-Joists / I-Beam Construction
I-Joists are comprised of a central OSB web between solid top and bottom flanges. The joists resist bending and with the webs, provide outstanding shear resistance.
